§ 56. Mr. John Huntasked the Secretary of State for Transport whether he will make a statement on the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Centre at Swansea.
§ Mr. HoramThe task of converting from a local authority-based system of driver licensing to a centralised system will be completed on target by the end of this month, when some 24 million driver 255W records will be held on the centre's computer at Swansea. The centralisation of vehicle registration and licensing, which is at present just over halfway through, will also he completed on target—early in 1978. Present indications are that the centre has overcome most of its initial problems and is now providing a good standard of service.
