The Departments of Industry and Trade have in hand 31 statistical inquiries, which are listed in the following table. At 1st July 1976, there were 1,200 civil servants involved in collecting and processing the statistics. Their estimated annual total cost, including the cost of support services borne on the votes of other Departments, is £7.7 million.
