HC Deb 21 October 1976 vol 917 cc542-3W
Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Industry (1) if he will make a statement on the progress made by the Organising Committee of British Shipbuilders in considering the future size of the industry;

(2) if the Organising Committee of British Shipbuilders has yet come to any conclusions about the closure of particular shipyards or ship repairing establishments;

(3) if the Organising Committee of British Shipbuilders has given consideration to the future of shipbuilders in Upper Clydeside; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Les Huckfield

It is not the function of the Organising Committee for British Shipbuilders to come to conclusions about the future of the industry or of individual yards but to make plans for vesting.
