§ 19. Mr. Loydenasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps he has taken to investigate the cause of demonstrations by prisoners in certain of Her Majesty's prisons and, in particular, Walton Prison in Liverpool.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesAny demonstration by prisoners is fully investigated by the Prison Department as a matter of normal procedure. The reason given by prisoners at Liverpool for the demonstrations in June last was the restriction in regime occasioned by a reduction in staff availability.
