§ Mr. Skeetasked the Secretary of State for Energy what is his estimate of the cost to the United Kingdom if the work currently undertaken by BNF were conducted abroad.
§ Mr. BennCurrent work at Windscale is largely concerned with irradiated fuel from reactors of the Magnox type. I am advised by the company that the only other plant in the world equipped to process this kind of fuel is in France, and that it has been established that little or no spare capacity is available there. It would not, therefore, be practicable to have the work conducted abroad.
