§ Mr. Alfred MorrisThe new mobility allowance, which was introduced on 1st January 1976, is intended to help severely disabled people to achieve greater mobility in whatever way suits their own needs. Many will use it to help toward meeting the expenses of owning and running a car. My hon. Friend may like to know that the Central Council for the Disabled is studying what can be done to help disabled people to buy cars on advantageous terms, and that I am keeping in very close touch with it on this matter.
