§ Mr. Robert Taylorasked the Secretary of State for Trade what representations he has made to the French Government concerning their law No. 75–119 which is due to come into force on 4th January 1977 and affects trade with the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. MeacherI assume the hon. Member is referring to French Law No. 75–1349 which relates to the use of the French language, and which comes into operation on 4th January 1977. Thedécrets d'application which will detail the law's specific requirements have not yet been published, but are expected soon. Meanwhile we are in contact with the French authorities as to the effect of this legislation.
