§ Mr. StrangThere is, as yet, no EEC directive on beer. A draft directive is at a very early stage of discussion between Member States and the Commission. The substances to be permitted for use in the 403W brewing of beer will be considered as part of these discussions. The Food Additives and Contaminants Committee is at present carrying out a full review of additives in beer and we will be guided by its views on the need for and safety-in-use of the substances listed in the draft directive.
