§ Mr. Spearingasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what proposals have been received by Her Majesty's Government for any treaty giving protection to the financial interests of the European Communities and its officials from the criminal law.
§ Mr. JohnThe Commission of the European Communities sent to the Council of the European Communities on 18th August two draft treaties. The first is to permit the adoption of common rules on the protection under criminal law of the financial interests of the Communities and the prosecution of infringements of the provisions of the Treaties establishing the European Communities. The second is to permit the adoption of common rules on the liability under criminal law of officials and other servants of the European Communities and their protection by means of criminal law from the commission of certain offences against them.
