§ Mr. Spriggsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what role he plays in the work of the Police Council; and whether the invitation to enter into discussions with the Police Federation on the form of negotiating machinery that would meet the needs of the police service has been accepted by him.

I have met representatives of the Police Federation to discuss the present difficulties and I should be glad to have further talks with them, and with representatives of the other interested bodies, in due course.
