§ Mr. Thorneasked the Secretary of State for Energy whether he is satisfied with the systems of inspection at British nuclear fuel establishments with particular reference to the protection of public health.
§ Mr. EadieBritish Nuclear Fuels Limited's operating establishments are licensed nuclear sites under the Nuclear Installations Act 1965. As such they are subject to strict control, including inspection, by the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate of the Health and Safety Executive in the interests of the protection of both workers and the general public against potential hazards from operations on the sites. I am satisfied with these arrangements.
