§ Mr. Joel BarnettMy right hon. Friend in his last Budget estimated the direct cost to the Consolidated Fund of servicing the National Debt this year at £1,770 million. In addition, debt service payments of £3.130 million from the324W National Loans Fund were estimated to be met from receipts of interest on past loans, profits of the Issue Department of the Bank of England, etc.
