HC Deb 15 October 1976 vol 917 c233W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will set out a list of the tasks being tackled by the interdepartmental Committee on Marine Safety; and if he will make a statement on their work hitherto.

Mr. Clinton Davis

The terms of reference of this new committee areto co-ordinate the development and implementation of policy relating to safety at sea. Its primary tasks have been identified as relating to offshore safety; in particular, the co-ordination of regulations under various legislation, the development of common attitudes to enforcement of regulations by the authorities concerned, and keeping under review the development of international requirements. The committee has met twice and initiated work particularly in these areas.
