HC Deb 15 October 1976 vol 917 c240W
Mr. Geraint Howells

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many people are employed in bacon-curing factories in England, Scotland and Wales, respectively.

Mr. Golding

My Department's employment statistics are analysed according to the Minimum List Headings of the Standard Industrial Classification. This provides a heading for bacon curing, meat and fish products, but does not separately identify bacon curing.

Following is the latest available information:

Employees in Employment—June 1975
Bacon curing, meat and fish products—Minimum List Heading 214 of the Standard Industrial Classification:
England 84,700
Scotland 16,800
Wales 2,000
