Mr. Geraint Howells

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) how many bacon-curing factories have been closed down during the last three years in Great Britain; and if he will make a statement;

(2) how many bacon-curing factories there are in Great Britain.

There are at present 214 bacon factories in Great Britain. Since October 1973, 41 factories have been closed and five opened.
