§ 27. Mr. David Priceasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what modifications he intends to make to the Government's economic targets as announced in his statement of 22nd July and in his speech of 2nd August as a result of the drought.
§ Mr. HealeyThe drought and the hot weather will undoubtedly have an effect on output in agriculture and in some other industries, and on the price of certain foods. My right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture has already announced, on 5th October certain measures including increases in the guaranteed prices of milk and sheep to help ensure that effects on agricultural output are minimised. There is not enough firm evidence available to assess what effect, if any, the drought is likely to have on any of the targets announced in the statement of 22nd July and in the speech of 2nd August.
