§ Mr. Craigenasked the Secretary of State for Employment what is his estimate of the total number of persons who have entered and completed courses under the training opportunities scheme during the last year for which figures are available; and how many persons over 45 years of age are within that total.
§ Mr. GoldingI am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that, during 1975, 60,724 people completed a course of training under the training opportunities scheme. In December 1975, there were 33,729 people undergoing training, of whom 13.8 per cent. were over 45 years of age. In July 1976 and August 1976 the percentages were 11.8 and 12.1 respectively. The number of persons over 45 years of age who completed training is not readily available.
