§ Mr. StrangCaramel is one of the colours permitted for use in food by the Colouring Matter in Food Regulations 1973, as amended. The need to use the permitted colours and their safety in use104W is currently being evaluated by the Food Additives and Contaminants Committee. It is too early, as yet, to say when the committee's report will be published. But we are keeping a close watch on the general situation and we will not hesitate to take action in advance of the committee's report should the need arise.
