§ Mr. JohnNo. There is already available, for a second or subsequent offence under the Diseases of Animals Act 1950, as amended, one month's imprisonment on summary conviction. A person charged with knowingly contravening the terms of the Rabies (Dogs, Cats and other Mammals) Importation Order 1974 may be tried on indictment when the maximum penalty to which he is liable is an unlimited fine or 12 months' imprisonment, or both.
