HL Deb 01 October 1976 vol 374 c812WA
Lord VAIZEY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What are the salaries (and pension arrangements) paid, and how many days leave are available, to the Secretary General of the Arts Council, his deputy, and the five next most senior officials of that body.

Lord DONALDSON of KINGSBRIDGE

Pay scales and conditions of service of officials of the Arts Council follow those of equivalent grades in the Civil Service. For the senior officials the information is:

  • Secretary General—£12,000 (30 days).
  • Deputy Secretary General—£8,650–£11,000 plus an allowance of £100 (30 days).
  • Finance Director and Directors of Art, Music, Drama and Regional Development—£8,650–£11,000 (25 or 30 days, depending on length of service).
Inner London Weighting of £465 per annum is also payable. There is a noncontributory superannuation scheme modelled closely on the Principal Civil Service Pension Scheme.

House adjourned at twenty-nine minutes past five o'clock.
