Mr. Adleyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what further steps he intends to take to make available to the parents and medical adviser of Tanya Price, of Christchurch, her medical records; why the availability of those records is still withheld from Mr. and Mrs. Price; and under what circumstances parents have the right to see the medical records of their infant children.
§ Mr. Alfred MorrisA disclosure of all or part of a child's medical records to its parents or guardian is at the sole discretion of the clinician in charge of the case. The Dorset Area Health Authority is urgently pursuing the possibility of disclosing Tanya's hospital and clinic records to a medical adviser nominated by her parents. I understand that the agreement of the clinicians concerned in the case is still awaited. The hon. Member94W will now have received my further letter about this dated 26th November; and I am glad recently to have had an opportunity of discussing Tanya's case with him.
