§ Mr. Kershawasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what plans he has to remedy the inconvenience to pensioners and others in villages and rural districts arising from the frequent closures of rural post offices caused by low rates of pay to sub-postmasters; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. OrmeA pensioner who is inconvenienced by the closure of a post office may nominate a friend or relative to draw his pension for him, or may choose to be paid four-weekly or quarterly by cheque. Matters relating to the management of sub-post offices are for the Post Office, and no doubt, if the hon. Member has any particular instance in mind, he will wish to get in touch with it.
