Bennettasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will publish in the Official Report comparative tables showing the boarding-out allowances paid for foster children for each local authority in England and Wales for a sample of ages or publish a national minimum scale for such allowances.
§ Mr. MoyleDetails of the boarding-out scales payable by each local authority in England and Wales are not available centrally. My Department has no power to impose minimum rates of boarding-out allowances on local authorities, but following meetings between the Department and representatives of local authorities the latter have agreed to consider whether simple and flexible guidelines could be recommended to their members for implementation, possibly on a regional basis, as soon as resources allow.
