HC Deb 22 November 1976 vol 919 c988W
Mr. Spriggs

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the policy of his Department in regard to the building of private hospitals in an area where the National Health Service has failed to maintain safe and efficient nursing levels as at the St. Helens Hospital, Rainhill, and other hospitals in the area; and what consideration has been given to the fact that covering ward nursing duties on the basis of overtime may be more likely to cause more sickness among the nursing staff, and further endanger nursing levels on the wards.

Mr. Ennals

I shall let my hon. Friend have a reply as soon as possible.
