HC Deb 22 November 1976 vol 919 cc947-8W
Mr. Steen

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how much money has been allocated to the Merseyside Job Creation Action Committee at each of its last six meetings to local authorities and public authorities on the one hand and how much to non-statutory authorities and villages on the other.

Mr. Golding

I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that the table shows details of grants approved to local authorities and other statutory bodies at each of the six meetings from 25th August to 17th November. Projects from villages and non-statutory authorities are not separately identified.

Mr. Wrigglesworth

asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) what action he intends to take in view of the estimate that the North-East's allocation of funds for job creation is likely to be used by Christmas;

(2) if he will ensure there is no gap between the expiry of the present allocation of funds for the job creation programme in the North-East and any new allocation of funds for 1977;

(3) when he expects to be able to make an announcement about a further allocation of funds for job creation in the North-East for 1977.

Mr. Golding

It is estimated that, if the current application rate is maintained, the funds presently allocated to the North-East will be sufficient to allow applications to continue to be accepted until the end of February 1977. It is hoped to make an announcement on the future of the job creation programme well in advance of the expiry of the present allocation of funds for the programme.
