HC Deb 22 November 1976 vol 919 c927W
Mr. John Ellis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what effect the recent measures on the sale of fireworks has had on accidents and incidents affecting the public; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John Fraser

I have been asked to reply.

As I told my hon. Friend the Member for Woolwich, East (Mr. Cartwright) on 15th November—[Vol. 919, c. 379]—the effect of recent measures on accidents involving fireworks cannot be assessed until statistics of injuries become available, probably in February. But reports received from a number of local authorities indicate a marked fall in the number of fireworks let off in the streets.
