HC Deb 22 November 1976 vol 919 cc992-3W
Mr. Eldon Griffiths

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if, in the light of the fact that the East Anglian Regional Health Authority spent one quarter of a million pounds on staff removal expenses during 1975–76, he will invite the authority to provide reasons why this was necessary;

(2) what was the highest sum paid to cover the removal expenses to an individual employee or member of the medical staff of the East Anglian Regional Health Authority during the financial year 1975–76.

Mr. Moyle

Expenditure by the health authorities in East Anglia in 1975–76 on necessary and reasonable removal and associated expenses in accordance with Whitley Council agreements totalled £245,056, and the highest amount paid to any individual within this amount was £4,461. The regional health authority is receiving a detailed report at its meeting today which outlines the relevant agreements, the scope of the allowances and the reasons for the growth in expenditure to last year's level.
