HC Deb 22 November 1976 vol 919 c868W
Mr. Bradford

asked the Secretary of State for Transport, what was the total cost of providing concessionary bus fares in England and Wales for the year 197576 in respect of retirement pensioners.

Mr. Horam

About £61 million.

Mr. Bradford

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what metropolitan areas offer a free concessionary bus fare facility for retirement pensioners and if such a facility is available in the Greater London area.

Mr. Horam

The Greater London Council provides passes to people over retirement age entitling them to free off peak travel within Greater London on London Transport buses. Comparable concessions are provided in the metropolitan counties of Merseyside, South Yorkshire, Tyne and Wear, and West Midlands.
