asked the Secretary of State for Transport in view of his instructions to the officers at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Centre to operate the cherished transfer facility, if he will make a statement on the effect of cashing returned cheques from the licensing officer by those wishing to register cherished numbers.

On other roads they had the same accident rate as light goods vehicles and this was slightly lower than for cars. On each class of road heavy goods vehicles had a higher rate of involvement in fatal accidents than light goods vehicles and cars.

asked the Secretary of State for Transport how many staff at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Centre in Swansea were involved in the recent unofficial strike at the centre; when he expects the processing of applications for the transfer of cherished number plates to recommence; and how many such applications are outstanding at present.

asked the Secretary of State for Transport when he expects the results of the ballot of staff at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Centre in Swansea which took place on 3rd November to be published.
