§ Mr. Cyril Smithasked the Secretary of State for Trade what imports of textile goods from the United Kingdom are being allowed by India at the present time: arid what duty India places on such imports.
§ Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for Trade (1) whether United Kingdom textiles exported to India are subject to import licensing and if he will make a statement;
(2) whether United Kingdom textiles exported to India are subject to customs and excise duties or any auxiliary duties
§ Mr. Meacher,pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 17th November 1976, Vol. 919, c. 636–7], gave the following information:

The current Indian import policy permits the issue of licences for the import of the following textile goods from any country including the United Kingdom: Melton cloth for the manufacture of ten- 812W discussed the matter last week with representatives of the industry. As a result of that meeting, the association has undertaken to provide further necessary information.
