§ Mr. Cockcroftasked the Secretary of State for Transport if, in the interests of road safety, he will encourage the introduction of more low speed limits in those villages which now suffer from heavy, rapidly moving through traffic and also the introduction of humps in roads to reduce the speed of such traffic.
§ Mr. HoramMy right hon. Friend supports the introduction of a 40 mph speed limit in villages on main roads where the accident rate and the speed of578W traffic show this to be justified. Speed control humps, however, are still experimental, and there is no power to install them permanently.
