Mr. Alan WilliamsInformation is not collected on a regular basis about the reasons for firms locating projects in particular places. Information available in the Department shows that 10,000 jobs in existence in 1973 in Scotland were attributable to manufacturing establishments with origins in South-East England which had opened in Scotland since 1966. Employment in some of these establishments is likely to grow as their operations build up. Information is not yet available for subsequent years.
