§ Mr. OakesAll the national museums and galleries will be affected by the cuts in public expenditure to which the Government are committed. The Victoria and Albert Museum and the Science Museum in London and the Royal Scottish Museum in Edinburgh, which are part of the Civil Service, will in addition be subject to the reductions in the Civil Service to which the Government are also committed. Details of the effects will be made public in due course. Local museums and art galleries are the responsibility of the authorities who maintain them.
