asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will cease to treat as income the retirement pension of wives of 80 years of age whose husbands have also reached the age of 80 years.

No. The age allowance already gives elderly people aged 65 or over with modest incomes a tax starting point which is higher than for younger people, and which is well above the level of the standard State retirement pension.
