§ Mr. Ashleyasked the Secretary of State for Employment what consultations he had about the need for training facilities for workers in North Staffordshire to equip them for working in any new industries which may go to the region.
§ Mr. GoldingI am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that the Training Services Agency is currently reviewing the training needs of North Staffordshire in consultation with local bodies, including the District Manpower Committee which has set up a special sub-committee to consider the question. When the results of the review are known consideration will be given to supplementing the existing training facilities at the Hanley skillcentre and the courses being run on behalf of the agency in local colleges of further education and employers' establishments.
