§ Mr. RowlandsThere are several unsatisfactory features of both primary and secondary education in the outlying areas of the Falkland Islands. I am considering with my right hon. Friend the Minister for Overseas Development what action might usefully be taken to rectify these. An Educational Adviser is at present visiting the Falkland Islands to look into the matter.
§ Mr. Carter-Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs when he expects to replace the aircraft on the Falkland Islands; if he is aware of the hardship caused to the islanders by the absence of an aircraft; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. RowlandsI am conscious of the hardship caused by the loss of both Beaver aircraft of the Falkland Islands Government Air Service. I am happy to inform my hon. Friend that one replacement Beaver aircraft arrived at Port Stanley on 8th November; the second aircraft is due to arrive around 15th November.
