§ Mr. Leeasked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will introduce legislation requiring all motorists to bear the first £100 of insurance claims arising out of non-personal injury accidents, and all those motorists who are convicted in future of the offence of dangerous driving to bear the first £150 of such claims as an incentive to more careful driving.
§ Mr. HoramSuch a provision could well impose much inconvenience and difficulty on plaintiffs. So far as convicted motorists are concerned, it is for the courts to consider appropriate penalties, taking the deterrent element into account.
