§ 55. Sir John Rodgersasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will institute a review of the situation in which some countries in receipt of United Kingdom development aid funds refuse to trade with the United Kingdom in £ sterling and insist on payments in US dollars.
§ Mr. Robert SheldonNo. It is for exporters and importers to agree, in the course of normal international commerce, on the terms and conditions of sale most appropriate to the sales contract. In the case of aid funds, some 60 per cent. of United Kingdom bilateral aid is, of course, tied to the purchase of United Kingdom goods and services.
