§ 43. Mr. Kenneth Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Defence whether he will make a statement on his discussions with the Defense Secretary of the United States of America following his recent visit to Washington.
§ Mr. MulleyI had an extremely useful and constructive meeting with Mr. Rumsfeld on 15th October. We had a wide-ranging discussions on current alliance issues, including the continuing growth of Soviet military power, the possibilities for extending standardisation and specific equipment matters like AWACs and tank guns. I was also able to emphasise that we continue to make an important military contribution to the alliance.
