§ Mr. Charles R. MorrisI can answer only for the Civil Service. On 1st July 1976 there were 744,100 civil servants in post. The comparable figure on 1st July 1966 was 663,761. After making due allowance for staff employed on a part-time basis, these figures are equivalent to 3.38 per cent. and 2.91 per cent. of the number employed in the United Kingdom in June 1976 and June 1966 respectively.
Information on other public service employees is a matter for the departmental Ministers concerned.
