HL Deb 08 November 1976 vol 377 cc173-4WA
Lord O'HAGAN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How much EEC subsidies on food in the United Kingdom cost the EEC in the last month for which figures are available.

Lord STRABOLGI

The United Kingdom benefits from Community subsidies on food mainly through the system of monetary compensatory amounts. Since 17th May, however, monetary compensatory amounts on our imports from other Member States except Italy have been paid in the exporting country and information on these payments is not available. The United Kingdom also receives a contribution from the Community towards our general butter subsidy. In September this was £815,546.
