Mr. Eldon Griffiths

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is his policy towards the employment of retired police officers in civilian police ancillary posts, in view of the suggestion by a NALGO committee that these posts should be reserved for NALGO members.

This is a matter for individual police authorities and county councils, which will no doubt take into account the views of all the bodies which represent the various elements of the police services, and the views expressed by the Expenditure Committee of this House in its Report on Police Recruitment and Wastage (Session 1974, H.C. 310).
