HC Deb 28 May 1976 vol 912 cc401-2W
Mr. Goodhart

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if pension increases payable to former members of the Armed Services under the 1975 Annual Review of the Pensions (Increase) Act 1971 have been paid to all those whose pensions began before 1st July 1975 who are eligible by age to receive increases; and if not, why not.

Mr. Duffy

Pensions increases for Armed Forces pensioners are not governed by the Pensions (Increase) Act 1971 but are paid in an analogous manner, taking account of the Services pension code system. Under these arrangements, pensions increases for pensioners retiring on the 1975 pension code are payable to those eligible with effect from the introduction of a new pension code. Eligible pensioners who retired or were discharged before the 1975 pension cede became effective—1st January 1975 for senior officers; 1st April 1975 for others —were paid pensions increases stemming from the 1975 review from 1st December 1975.
