§ Mr. Skeetasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is his estimate of the cost of a foreign national applying for naturalisation to the State in processing the application and in making the necessary inquiries and to the applicant in complying with the legal formalities, respectively.
§ Mr. JohnThe estimated average cost of processing on application, including making inquiries, is £107. The fee payable by a successful applicant, which is under review, is at present £40. If an application is witnessed, or the oath of allegiance administered, by a justice of the peace there is no charge, but other authorised persons may charge a fee of 50p for each of these legal formalities.
