HC Deb 28 May 1976 vol 912 cc414-5W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is his estimate of the cost of a foreign national applying for naturalisation to the State in processing the application and in making the necessary inquiries and to the applicant in complying with the legal formalities, respectively.

Mr. John

The estimated average cost of processing on application, including making inquiries, is £107. The fee payable by a successful applicant, which is under review, is at present £40. If an application is witnessed, or the oath of allegiance administered, by a justice of the peace there is no charge, but other authorised persons may charge a fee of 50p for each of these legal formalities.
