HC Deb 28 May 1976 vol 912 cc465-6W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection if she has any intention of introducing legislation requiring that drinking glasses on licensed premises hold an exact legal measure.

Mr. John Fraser

It is already a requirement under weights and measures legislation that glasses in which beer is served on licensed premises shall be of ⅓ pint,½ pint or a multiple of ½ pint capacity and shall be stamped by weights and measures inspectors before use, except where the beer is dispensed by a beer measuring instrument, is pre-packed, or is a constituent of two or more liquids. I have no plans to introduce any amending legislation.
