asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many houses in the United Kingdom were built before 1919; and what percentage of the total housing stock this is.

Mr. Armstrong

At the end of 1975 it was estimated that 6,660,000 dwellings in the United Kingdom were built before 1919 representing 33 per cent. of the total stock of dwellings.

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many houses in the North-West were built before 1919; and what percentage of the total housing stock in that area this represents.

At the end of 1975 it was estimated that 838,000 dwellings in the North-West Region were built before 1919 representing 35 per cent. of that region's total stock of dwellings.
