HL Deb 27 May 1976 vol 371 c458WA
The Earl of KIMBERLEY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the educational department of a county council can force a board of school managers in a single teacher Church of England aided school, to accept a temporary supply head teacher chosen by the education officer, in preference to a permanent appointment, when the school has a guaranteed future in excess of two years.

Lord DONALDSON of KINGS-BRIDGE

: The arrangements for the appointment of the head teacher of an aided primary school are normally laid down in the school's rules of management which are made by the local education authority without reference to the Secretary of State.
