HC Deb 26 May 1976 vol 912 cc221-2W
Mr. Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what recent discussions he has had with interested organisations regarding the future of the shipbuilding and repairing industry in Scotland.

Mr. Les Huckfield

The problems facing the shipbuilding and repairing industry in Scotland are common to all parts of the United Kingdom. The future of the industry is the subject of frequent discussions involving my Department, the Organising Committee for British Shipbuilders, the Confederation of Shipbuilding and Engineering Unions, the Shipbuilders and Repairers National Association, and the General Council of British Shipping. My hon. Friend the Minister of State and I have taken part in a number of these discussions.
