§ Mr. John GrantEstimates of the numbers employed in nationalised industries and public corporations in the United Kingdom at each mid-year between 1959 and 1974 were published in the February 1976 issue of "Economic Trends", but figures for mid-1975 are not yet available. The estimate for June 1967 was 1,947,000 and at that date the total working population was 25,490,000. Some estimates for earlier years, on definitions which were different from those now in214W use, will be found in the November 1960 issue of "economic Trends" and in Tables 118, 121, 152 and 153 of "British Labour Statistics: Historical Abstract 1886–1968".
