asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the current ratio of consultant psychiatrists for adults per 100,000 population in England, Wales and Dyfed, respectively.

At 30th September 1975 the whole-time equivalent number of consultants per 100,000 adults—i.e., aged 15 years and over—in the specialty of mental illness (adult) was as follows:

  • England:2.38
  • Wales:2.26
  • Dyfed:1.97

The provisional final figures for the financial year 1975–76 are £173 million.
